Our Story
A Firm Built on Family
Robert E. Froerer began practicing law in 1959, and twenty years later, in 1979, he opened the doors of what would become Froerer & Miles, right here in Ogden, Utah. The Robert Froerer you'll work with today is a different one: Robert L. Froerer, admitted to the Utah State Bar in 1985. Same name over the door, same corner of Ogden, the same firm carrying its work into a new chapter. Nearly half a century after that first office opened, the firm has grown to five attorneys, built by two Ogden families. Robert, Bryce, and Zane share the Froerer name. Kelly and his son, Matthew, carry on the Miles side of the practice. Matthew joined the firm in 2017 to build on the legacy his father started, after growing up in Ogden and working at the firm as a legal assistant while he finished law school. It's a rare thing to find in Northern Utah: a law practice where the attorneys didn't just move to town for the job. They grew up here, and in at least one case, grew up watching a parent do this same work every day.
That kind of continuity shapes how the firm operates today. Clients aren't handed off between departments or shuffled between offices; they work directly with one of five attorneys who has personally handled cases like theirs for years, sometimes decades.

Everyone at Froerer & Miles was born and raised in the Ogden and Layton area. Rooted in Ogden and Layton, Not Just in the Courtroom
Our commitment to this community doesn't stop when we lock the office doors. Kelly currently represents District 11 in the Utah House of Representatives, and has served on the boards of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Weber and Davis Counties, McKay-Dee Hospital, and Ogden-Weber Technical College. Bryce regularly serves as a guardian ad litem, standing up for the interests of children caught in the middle of difficult custody disputes, above and beyond what any single case requires of him. Zane coaches youth soccer on the weekends, and Matthew came home to Ogden on purpose, choosing to build his career here rather than somewhere new.
Ogden and Layton are our home, not just our client base. When you sit down with one of us, you're consulting an attorney and a neighbor.
